2019 Chevrolet Express Cargo and Passenger Van Redesign & Price – The 2019 Chevrolet Express is the full-size van. We can find pretty much the same model in the GMC fleet called Savana. These two share almost everything – drivetrains, transmissions, trim levels. Details that make them different are colors and a few visual details. Even the price is almost the same. The 2019 Chevy Express is going to be around $200 cheaper. Not such saving.
For the upcoming season, Chevy is not going to increase interior volume. The van will take up to 15 passengers. However, depending on the model, it can offer a cargo volume of 216 cubic feet or 252 cubic-ft. Buyers will be happy to pick a suitable engine. Four units will be available to choose. Unfortunately, only drive mode is RWD. Two trim levels and some extra packages, as well as the Cargo Van edition.
2019 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van Redesign
The 2019 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van, as its name says, it a transportation vehicle. It can take up to 15 passengers. There are three available configurations for this model. The base one is Express 2500. This one and Express 3500 are using regular wheelbase length. The second one offers extended wheelbase as well. Buyers of each one can pick one of four engine solutions. The entry-level trim level is LS, and there is also an LT with more features and the same price. Interior layout is set for 12 passengers, and buyers can upgrade the capacity to 15 occupants. This costs only $500.
Everything is pretty much the same for 2019 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van. Same drivetrains are there, and this model has an extra configuration. Extended wheelbase of Express 2500 van is available only for cargo edition. Also, it has a specific trim, called WT. Furthermore, packages and additions for more convenient transport of cargo are there. Cargo liners, safety set, and communication features could be added.
Engine and Specs
It doesn’t get more old school than the humble Express, which is available as a cargo van or passenger van. A sturdy chassis, boxy dimensions, and a simplistic interior make it perfect for hauling up to 15 people or tackling a commercial job site. A 276-hp 4.3-liter V-6 or a 341-hp 6.0-liter V-8 power the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a 181-hp turbo-diesel 2.8-liter inline-four with an eight-speed automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 9600 pounds.
The main advantage of the 2019 Chevrolet Express is towing capacity. Chevy’s van is one of the most capable on the market. Depending on configuration, the vehicle can tow between 8,500 and 10,000 pounds. In this case, there is no rival to compete with the Express van.
On the other hand, Chevrolet’s engine choices are thirsty. Buyers looking for the better fuel economy turns to other solutions. A V-8 engine can offer only 13 mpg combined. Diesel improves the situation, but it is still way behind the rivals, such as Ford Transit.
The cheapest Express is Cargo van 2500 starting from $29,000. Passenger version is $2,000 higher. The 2019 Chevrolet Express 3500 adds $3,000 to the base value, V8 engine $1,000 more, and diesel $4,000 to the base setup. Both LS and LT trim levels cost the same.
